Automobiles in German City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Authorities reported they were alerted by a individual who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Police report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then located multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police state early analysis suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials stated they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for information.

A high-ranking political figure commented the incident rendered him without words and had to be addressed quickly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he posted on social media, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in 2020.
