An individual who spiked sweets with sleeping medication and distributed them to minors at a youth camp in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two children both nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight children and an older person fell ill at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from that region, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was against a young boy.
The defendant was held in detention ahead of a additional proceeding on late November.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, outlined Ruben's offending to the court.
She said his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were staying at a youth camp which he managed.
The man conducted a "treat game" with the minors, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and request they to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She stated to the judge Ruben had conducted this practice with the young males "for many years", and children had previously become sick the following morning.
She stated the defendant had been able to explain this repeatedly as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had worries in July 2025.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "In the summer" his stepson had concerns about the situation, justifiably.
"They decided to have a look in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC explained objects including infant oil, petroleum jelly and medical needles were discovered, and his stepson notified the police about his worries.
She stated the defendant went on to engage in the "sweet game" with six youngsters that evening - July 26th - and they were all sick the next day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that point," she added.
The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was examining the police response of the events.
The prosecutor stated the minors were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the stepson contacted the law enforcement again.
She explained Ruben then engaged in the "candy game" in a area of five minors.
